Today I’m sharing a collection of haiku poems I penned in the past few months, mostly centered around seasonal imagery, paired with a few of my favorite relevant photos, plus a few more internal observances mixed in for good measure. Rhododendron falls,
Salmonberry branch catches,
In the nature patch.
Pink and white blossoms
branch from the same trees cracked bark.
Look twice to be sure.
Fly on a flower
Disperses seeds with a pop.
Small things, the future.
Squirrel on the fence,
Slug on the planter wall
go at their own pace.
The sun shines green through
bars on the basement windows,
filtered through the grass.
Streets painted yellow
By fallen maple blossoms,
a spring art project.
Pink cherry blossoms
Flutter to the gutter's edge
fall through with the breeze.
Green leaves graze my face,
Flowers shuffle underfoot
Sensations of spring.
Oregon front porch,
California poppies bloom,
Migrate with the heat.
Green plums and cherries,
Overcast but warm weather,
Summer is coming.
Gnat clouds buzz at dusk.
Biker commuting from work
inhales the insects.
Sun warm on my face,
Samaras spin to the ground,
Beautiful cycles.
Chestnut blossoms fall,
The smell of fresh cut green grass,
Crows forage for food.
Tart cherries blush pink
Green peach fuzz adorns branch tips,
Stone fruit ripening.
My mind bounces like
A basketball against the
Ground of this moment.
Dead rat on the porch
Blue flax flutters in the wind
Off to work again.
